CSSA Hosts Annual Meeting

Researchers, educators, administrators, and extension professionals in the soil and environmental sciences from around the world gathered at the Long Beach Convention Center to present research and discuss emerging trends in crop science, plant breeding, crop genetics, education, and other topics.

Other major events at the meeting included a presentation by Pulitzer Prize recipient Thomas L. Friedman, on why we need a green revolution and how it can renew America; Pamela Matson, Dean's Office School of Earth Sciences, Stanford University, to discuss a transition to sustainabiltity; and Jared Diamond, UCLA, author of Collapse: How Societies Chose to Fail or Succeed, on what we can learn from previous environmental problems and their impacts.
